Home improvement fund inaugurated

Housing Microfinance for the Poor

On April 1, 2005 HFH Macedonia, affiliation of the global housing network Habitat for Humanity International and the Saving House Moznosti, implementing partner of the global microfinance coalition Opportunity International have signed an agreement of establishment of Home Improvement Fund.

Projected capital of the Fund is US$ 1.5 million, aimed for distribution in a form of loans that are to be used for the purpose of reconstruction and renovation of the substandard housing in Macedonia. Loans are to be directed towards the weak but economically active families. The event of inauguration of the Fund has been addressed by Don Haszczyn, Vice-president for Europe and Central Asia of Habitat for Humanity International, and Stevco Jakimovski, Minister of Labour and Social Affairs in the Government of the Republic of Macedonia.
